It's Chilly!

34 degrees here in Central FL....and a bit of early morning frost to greet the golfers. (taken from our back porch)

But, it's supposed to be 79 degrees tomorrow...go figure.

Hope you have a peaceful Sunday!

Simple Joy in What You See

Coming home a bit late from work, and this is what I see as I pull into the driveway...one of our kitties, Jake, sitting in the window taking in all of the Christmas lights.

Was he waiting for me? That's what I think....

So Pretty

Long story (aren't they all) but I've spent several days in 3 different hospitals with different family members. Everything is fine now, but there were a couple of scary moments...whew!
So....as I am waiting for the recovery room to call me in, I thought i'd try mobile posting. I can't help but stare at the beautiful Christmas tree in the lobby. The sun is streaming in and it looks like a picture...hey, wait....here it is! Have a great day everyone....

There Are no Answers

A post full of questions, speculation and possibilities would probably allow all of us to shake off some of the disbelief about what happened at a small elementary school in Newtown, CT yesterday.  Instead of that, please remember this:

Hold thoughts, not only for the entire town of Newtown, but all for of us close to your heart.

It Seems Different

How was your Thanksgiving Day?  Ours was quiet and peaceful, and for that alone, I am thankful.  :)

Let me start out by saying I am not a shopper, so the whole "Black Friday" thing doesn't get me over excited.   At midnight I am a much better sleeper than shopper, so venturing out among the frenzied is not something I ever plan on.  That being said, I am a coupon hog.  Always look for them and always try to use them!  So a few coupons I had stashed away were calling out to me this morning and off I went.

First stop:  Bath & Body Works.  Those 2 for $20 candles get me every time, but just as I got the perfect parking space, a call from daughter Bailey changed my plans. She is a midnight shopper, and while out with friends last night, she got me 2 candles!  So, after a few thank you's were exchanged, I headed in thinking I would use my coupon for the "Buy 3, Get 3" stuff...but the line was long, longer than I wanted to wait for something I can get just about anytime.  I smelled a few things, sprayed a few things and left as I arrived...with empty hands and a coupon burning in my pocket.

A few stops later, and a few very small purchases, I headed home thinking that, all in all, it wasn't too bad.  Not as many shoppers as I thought there might be, but I am probably not at the most popular stops.  Then, while driving home, the guys from the city were putting up the tinsel-ly, shiny Holiday Decorations on the light posts and I have to say, I wasn't all that excited about it.  Now, usually that kind of thing sends me into a holiday tizzy...it's like the start of everything wonderful!  The Nutcracker Soldiers were shining up there on their perch, letting us all know that it's time to officially begin the Holiday season.  So...what was different?

The season has already started!  It started right after Halloween, right?  Decorations started creeping in at the beginning of November and were full on before Thanksgiving!  Is that it?  Have we already looked at the ornaments and accessories, so that by now they aren't special?  There is no build-up, no anticipation.  Maybe that's why seeing the Nutcracker Soldiers today almost made me wonder, "Where in the heck have you been?"

Anyway....I am still excited about our own Christmas plans and I will be excited when I open the first container of our decorations, because I love what we have and what it all means to me.  There's not much I would change....I did get a new door decoration today, though.  We use mostly red and white   in our decorating plans, so this just works.  Added the snow effect, cause the white Florida door looks icky.  Not the normal round wreath, but normal isn't always everything it's cracked up to be.

Now...it's officially the start of the Holiday Season!

We are leaving at once and not a moment too soon,
We need to fly by the light of the moon.
Do not ask questions! I can see all of your faces,
Without fail I will lead you, to the Most Haunted Places.

And then to the next and the next we will fly,
We will speak to the spirits as they watch us go by.
We'll return to this place thinking of all we have seen,
And then we'll be ready for a Happy Halloween.

Quick Peek!

It's been a long day, but I just wanted to give you a peek at one of my favorite Fall/Halloween guys!

My first choice in style has always been more to the Primitive stuff...and this guy is one of my "I love you so much, you can stay out all year" pieces!  Yes...he sits in my home office space, grinning non-stop throughout every season, even though he thinks everything but Fall is a complete waste of time.  Hand made by a local lady several years ago, I just can't bear to pack him away.

Just last week, The Hub and I made a quick weekend trip to Ohio for his...ahem...50th High School Reunion.  What a great time he had, catching up with classmates and I was lucky enough to meet some of the most wonderful people!  Anyway, one of the get-togethers was held at the home/farm of one of the organizers of the whole thing...something like 50+ acres of pure heaven. That's where I was able to get this picture, just strolling along the edge of the hay field:

Beautiful sunflowers...and a little bee right in the center.  Nothing like this in Florida.

And, finally....the pumpkin I mentioned yesterday, sitting on top of that old box.  It's mercury glass...maybe not the real stuff, but made to look that way.  I have lots of real mercury glass and this fits in perfectly with a mercury glass bowl that is filled with mercury glass acorns that sits on another table.  Once I have everything out, I'll put this little pumpkin right next to that.  Of course, that's our kitty, Jake, and the open book is "Seasons at Seven Gates Farm".  The old spectacles were a find at an antique festival, somewhere, sometime...

Talk to you soon!

Let's Try This One More Time....

What??  It's almost Fall?  Oh dear....it seems like Valentines Day was just here.

**giggle**

Well...let's get on with it then.  My favorite season is almost here and I put out my first pumpkin today!

Lots to do...school started (the summer flew by), we went to our first Football Game last week and every store I visit has aisles of Halloween stuff.  Didn't we just get all of that Fall stuff packed up and in the attic a few days ago?

Yikes!!  Time flies when you're getting old.

Happy Valentine's Day!
